Earlier this year, we pledged to plant a tree for every flight booked through the app, which has resulted in more than 10,000 trees being planted around the world. In this new era of air travel, we are continuing our commitment to sustainability through our latest partnership with CBL Markets, a global exchange providing access to the world’s environmental commodity markets. What does this mean for users? Our frequent flyers now have the ability to purchase offsets within the app on their own. With this new in-app flight booking functionality, users can discover the carbon impact of their specific route and choose from a number of carefully vetted projects to offset their flight.

In the expansion of our ongoing partnership with non-profit One Tree Planted, we’ve launched a CO2 calculator, allowing users to calculate how many trees they would need to plant in order to help offset their carbon impact of a specific flight path. “App in the Air’s calculator is a great tool to help someone estimate how many trees they can plant to help reduce their carbon footprint,” said Diana Chaplin, One Tree Planted’s Marketing Director. “It just takes a few seconds and makes it super easy for the user to plant their trees right away with One Tree Planted.”
